Services: Modernization and Refurbishment

McKay works closely with structural engineers and fabricators to handle the ever expanding demand for attention to the aging cranes of the world.

  • Crane Up-Rating: Increase the operating dimensions, speeds, or capacity of an existing crane. Usually this is brought about by a desire to have older cranes work the newer larger ships and to increase their productivity to approach those of current equipment.
  • Modernization: As cranes age, the availability of replacement parts becomes more difficult and the aggravated costs of maintenance justify the replacement of older components and technologies with more current equipment. This is particularly true of the electric drive systems. For these projects, the old systems are replaced with new ones and the required crane engineering incorporated to accommodate the change.
  • Refurbishment: Return the crane to the condition of its manufacture.
