Services: Conceptual Design

Through many years, and a variety of experience gained through the evaluation of the container crane, McKay has developed an unparalleled background in the conceptual design of cranes. This is a result of working with manufactures in the development of concepts, the preparation of proposals, and detail design, as well as acting as the buyer’s technical evaluator. Credibility is given to these capabilities by the many cranes that are now operating to these designs. Concepts are developed at either the crane system level or as an individual subsystem component.

Conceptual design often represents the most costly decisions for a project. They are developed for various purposes and from several points of view.

Complete Crane Systems:

  • Prepare with the invitation to bid as a demonstration of feasibility and as a communication of requirements.
  • Prepare for a manufacturer’s proposal as a basis for costing and an illustration of capabilities.
  • As buyer’s technical representative to assess feasibility, effectiveness, and risk of manufacturer’s proposals.
  • Crane Sub-Systems:

  • Expand a manufacturer’s capabilities to become more competitive by enhancing crane performance.
  • Describe a specified solution to a manufacturer, particularly when complex and multi-contractor interfaces are involved.
